As well as providing clean water in emergencies, Global Muslim Charitable Organization works to improve water supply, sanitation and hygiene to stop the spread of diseases in vulnerable communities worldwide. We also lead education programmes promoting good health and hygiene.

In many poverty stricken areas, such as the villages we work in, and in Bangladesh, people do not have access to clean water or adequate sanitation facilities.

A lack of access to clean drinking water and basic sanitation is the cause of death for many vulnerable people, especially children and women. Water and sanitation are essential to survive and are a basic human need.

A number of innovative interventions have been undertaken by Global Muslim Charitable Organization to improve the water supply system and hygiene by installing hand pumps, deep water wells, building of washrooms in houses and school sanitation.

For a water pump donation of just $550, we can completely revolutionise the way countless women in poverty are currently having to live their lives. By installing a simple water handpump close to their home, those many hours a day spent walking miles just for clean water are significantly reduced and they can focus on improving their family income. As the family have access to clean water, there is a significant reduction in the risk of disease and contamination. This means people are healthier for longer, and that families are less worried about heavy medical bills.

A handpump is a small but efficient mechanism which can support a household or a small communal area with access to clean drinking water. 

Currently we are supporting the installation of water handpump in Bangladesh. Hand pumps provide households with as much water as they need each day for drinking, cleaning and cooking. It is one of the form of continuous sadaqah jariya that our prophet(sa) encouraged us the most for the deceased one. Tubwel can also be built with the intention of anyone or in memory of a loved one who has passed away. It is a beautiful act of contentious Sadaqah Jariyah, as communities will benefit from your donated water pump for years to come.
